Francis Gene Ballengee

Francis Gene “Buss” Ballengee, 91, of McDermott, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at SOMC Hospice.
He was born October 18, 1927 in McDermott, a son of the late Archie and Edith Duncan Ballengee.
Buss was a retired Mill Superintendent for Waller Brothers Stone and a 1946 McDermott High School graduate. He was a charter member of the Rush Township Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the McDermott United Methodist Church, active in many facets.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Glenn and Keith Ballengee; and two sisters, Thelma Koch and Beulah Parsley.
Buss is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Louise Moulton Ballengee whom he married July 7, 1951 in Lucasville; his daughter, Edith (Brent) Briggs of Pataskala, Ohio; his son, Greg (Erin) Ballengee of West Portsmouth; seven grandchildren, Amy, Joy, Kayla, and Jason Ballengee, Jennifer Paal, Kelsey Swift, and Adam Paal; three great grandchildren, Orson, Oscar, and Isaac; sister-in-law, Lula Ballengee of McDermott; four special nieces, Bonnie Emmons, Sally Wright, Barbara Baker, and Paula Parrish; many other beloved nieces and nephews; and special friends, Karen Ballengee, and Bill and Karen Stephens.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Fran Newman officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery where the Ohio Valley Firefighters Association Honor Guard will perform services. Friends may call 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, and an hour prior to the funeral Sunday at the funeral home.
