Douglas Duane Workman

Douglas Duane Workman, 58, of Portsmouth, died Monday, December 17, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center He was born March 28, 1960 in Portsmouth, a son of Carolyn Ruth Ishmael Fenton and Thomas Duane Workman.

A 1979 graduate of PHS, Doug served in the Army Reserves and attended Cornerstone United Methodist Church. He was proud of having been an optician for Dr. Clyde Fenton in Portsmouth for 32 years, giving the gift of sight to 128,000 individuals. Doug enjoyed coaching youth baseball and being a positive influence in the lives of many young men. A music and sports trivia aficionado, he played tennis and golf and was an avid Buckeyes and UK basketball fan.

Doug is survived by his father, Thomas Duane (Martha) Workman of Mt. Olivet, KY and mother, Carolyn Ruth Ishmael (Dr. Clyde) Fenton of Portsmouth; a sister, Kelly (Scot) Mullins of Avon Park, FL; and three stepsisters, Laura Tilton of Ft. Worth, TX, Elizabeth (Neil) Sethi of Upper Arlington and Kate (Sean) Hinely of Lewis Center.

His son, Wesley Duane Workman, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Tom Charles officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday.
