Susie Zaler

Susie Zaler, 66, of Lucasville, passed away Thursday, December 13, 2018 at her residence.
She was born November 2, 1952 in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late Oakey and Dorothy Brooks Hays.
Susie was the owner/operator of G.R.Zaler Insurance Agency in Lucasville. A 1970 Piketon High School graduate, she was a longtime treasurer for the Valley Athletic Boosters, volunteer for Valley Elementary PTO, and former EMT for Valley Volunteer Fire Department where she also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Zaler December 27, 1998; two brothers, Willard and Russell Hays; and two sisters, Elizabeth Hays and Patricia Kamer.
Susie is survived by her son, Matthew (Claudia) Zaler of Lucasville; two grandsons, Mason and Ryan Zaler; one brother, Charles Hays; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Raymond Thayer officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to the service Thursday at the funeral home.
