Robert Lee Longmire, Sr

Robert Lee Longmire, Sr. 82 of Wheelersburg, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice in Patient Center in Portsmouth, surrounded by his family. Lee was born on December 10, 1936 in La Follette, TN, the son of the late Robert Ulysses and Mary Edna Barley Longmire. He was also preceded in death by one son, Steven Longmire; two daughters, Patty McLemore, Deborah Rossie and one brother, Billy Longmire.  Lee was a Plumbing Contractor, Pastor of the Lucasville Worship Center, member of the South Shore Church of God, loved wood working, His dog Boo-Boo and most of all the light of his life his grandchildren.

     Lee is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ellen Tucker Longmire, whom he married on April 16, 1970 in Chicago, Ill; 4 sons, Rob (Karen) Longmire of Freeport, Fl, Michael (Carmen) Longmire of Portsmouth, James Allan Longmire of Lucasville and Terry (Becca) Longmire of Lucasville; one daughter, Melissa (Jason) Smith of Wheelersburg; two brothers, Donnie (Omi) Longmire of Leland, Ill and Dennis Longmire of Minnesota, one sister-in-law, Aline Longmire; 16 grandchildren, Danielle Goff-Frye, Jennifer Russell, Brittany Worthy, Bethany Longmire, Angel Royce, Jamie Newcome, Christopher Longmire, Alexandra Longmire, Gabriel Longmire, Charlie Grace Longmire, Owen Michael Longmire, Alexis Smith, Jaycee Smith, Tyler Longmire, Kegan Longmire and Judah Longmire along with numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

     A Celebration of Lee’s Life will be held at 1pm Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Gateway Church at 6th and Brown street in Portsmouth, with Pastor Randy Barr officiating. Interment will follow in Wheelersburg, at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 10am until the funeral hour on Thursday at the church.
