Mary Frances Tipton
Mary Frances Tipton, 92 of Delaware passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the Grady Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born October 18, 1926 in Ashland, Kentucky the daughter of the late Jacob Jackson & Allie (Leslie) Leibee. Mary worked in the accounts payable department for Marting’s Department Store, Portsmouth, Ohio for 20 years. She attended and was a member of the Wheelersburg United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was also a part of the “Mother Singers” in Portsmouth, Ohio, and sang in the Willow Brook Singers group.
Left to cherish her memory are children Janis D. (Richard) Ames of Murray, Kentucky, and Cathy (Jerry) Amato of Columbus, Ohio, Joseph Tipton of Lacey, Washington, Charles (Billey Jo) Tipton of Vancouver, Washington; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; nephews Ed, Gary, Ronnie, and Paul.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Arthur Leo Tipton in 2005; brothers David F. Leibee, and James M. Leibee; sister Edmona Ramey.
Mary had a passion for music, whether it was singing along to a gospel song or performing a duet with her kids. She was gifted with playing the piano and playing the organ. She also enjoyed just sitting and listening to hymns in her younger years. Mary also was known for being a wonderful cook, spending time with her family during gatherings, and holidays. Her family will remember her as the kind, caring, and compassionate person that she was.
Mary’s family would like to express their warmest appreciation to the staff of Willow Brook for the wonderful care, compassion, and experience over the last 10 years of Mary’s life .
A small celebration of life gathering to honor Mary will be held 2:30 p.m., Thursday, November 15, 2018 at the Willow Brook Christian Village, 100 Willow Brook Way South, Delaware, Ohio
