Gilbert Joseph Parker

Gilbert Joseph Parker of West Portsmouth passed away November 4th, 2018 at OSU Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio at the age of 48.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert & Evelyn (Evans) Vendura, 2 Aunts, Gail Galloway and Mary Lynette Newman, a brother Adam Parker, and his faithful canine pal Harley.

Born June 17th, 1970. Gilbert “Gibby” attended Portsmouth West High School. He worked as a certified fiber optic technician.  Gibby had a great love of music and could play almost any instrument. His favorites were drums and the guitar, both of which he played fluently. Cooking was another passion that he loved. He would often fix a variety of dishes for his family to try. Gibby was a very charming and social individual, he had an infectious laugh that could make anyone smile. He had many friends that he loved to visit, support and often pray for. He was a member of World Harvest Church.
To his close family members, Gibby was a big teddy bear with an even bigger heart.

Family meant a lot to Gibby. He is survived by his mother Peggy “Vendura” Whitt and Step father Tom Whitt of West Portsmouth, Ohio. One sister, Gina Howard of West Portsmouth, Ohio. His 4 children, daughter Erika Taylor Bradford, son Gilbert Joseph Parker II, daughter Cassy Noel Parker and son Gavin Ray Parker. 7 Grandchildren: Gaige, Mackenzie, Damien, Oliver, Kaleb, Lincoln, and Jonah. His 7 nieces and nephews: Seth, Gabby, Asher, Gracie. Breanna Shea, Little Adam, and Braxton. All of whom he dearly loved. Gibby also had a large extended family of cousins that will forever love and miss him.

A Memorial and Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, November 12th at 5:00pm at New Beginning Church of God located at 227 Maple Street in West Portsmouth. Zach Evans will be officiating.
Anyone wishing to pay condolences is welcome to attend. Guests will be received at 4:30pm. Service starts at 5:00pm.  Friends and Family will gather at the 5th street Community Center in West Portsmouth immediately following the service. All are welcome to pay their respects.
