Jessie E. Staker

Age 91, of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord October 11, 2018 at Best Care in Wheelersburg.  She was born January 27, 1927 in Portsmouth to William and Bessie (Haywood) Riggs.  Jessie worked 14 years at the old Bluebird Bakery in Sciotoville.  She was a life member at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Powellsville and was very active with Bible study and quilting and delivered Meals on Wheels for over 10 years.

She is survived by one son, Paul Kenneth Staker (Sherri) of Georgetown; three daughters, Patricia “Patty” Staker of Portsmouth, Sharon Staker of Wheelersburg, Joyce Bailey (Sam) of Franklin Furnace; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; two sisters, Garnet Gulker of Florida and Julia Cunningham of Wheelersburg.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Staker; daughter, Anita Boucher; sisters, Dorothy Oberling, Helen Hickox, Joann Martin; brother, Paul Riggs.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Brent Cavendish officiating.  Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.  Friends may call 5 – 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service.  Online condolences may be shared at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
