Frederick E. Warden, Sr.
Frederick E. Warden Sr., age 93 of Havre de Grace, Maryland passed away on September 23, 2018. Born on March 25, 1925 in Portsmouth Ohio, he was the son of the late Robert Clifton and Grace Ann (Wessel) Warden. He was predeceased by one step son, one grandchild and all his siblings.
Fred is survived by his wife Clara May Warden (Kersnowski) and four children Teresa Warden Scott and her husband, Martin of Portsmouth, OH, Nadine Warden Burns and husband, Michael of Poolesville MD, son Frederick Warden, Jr of Havre de Grace and Tammy Stoneberg and husband, John of Havre de Grace. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Fred was a life member of the Joseph L. Davis Post 47 American Legion, Havre de Grace, MD as well as a member of the VFW. He enlisted in the United States Navy 1943 and later in the U.S. Army, and was a veteran of WW II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Fred honorably retired after 20 years of dedicated service to this country. After moving back to Portsmouth and working various jobs, Fred then went to work for the Federal Government at the Provost Marshal’s Office, Fort Jackson, Columbia S.C. were he retired after 20 years as a Civil Service Employee.
Fred’s love of the water was evident throughout his life with endless stories of building sailing boats as a child and sailing them on the Great Lakes to boating on the Susquehanna during his tours of duty at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Fred’s hobbies included model boat building, woodworking, eating crabs and storytelling about his many adventures in life over a cold beer.
