Laura Alice Acord

Laura Alice Acord, of Piketon, Ohio died on Monday September 17, 2018 at the Adena Regional Medical Center, Chillicothe, Ohio surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 12, 1932 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Gertrude Helen Freshour Adkins. Surviving are her children, Randall Dean Acord, Diane Botkin, Karen Sue Turner, Patricia Lynn Pyle, Debra Jean Durbin, and Paula Kay Jackson, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, a sister Pauline Mae Ward and a brother David Jerome Adkins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Elwood Acord, a brother, Glenn Ellis Snyder, and a sister Donna Jean Adkins.

Laura was retired from the Scioto Valley School System where she worked in food service for many years. She loved spending time cooking for her friends and family, playing bingo with her many friends, and traveling to the beach with her family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Scott Hilbert officiating. Friends may call 12:00 noon – 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
