Ray Alfred Pendleton

Ray Alfred Pendleton, 82, of Portsmouth, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at Portsmouth Health and Rehab. He was born August 22, 1936 in Ashland, KY, a son of the late Charles and Edna Andis Kirk Pendleton. Ray was a kind and gentle man and a free spirit. His job on the family farm was to keep all the cows and horses watered. On any given day, you could see Ray pulling the weeds in his yard, come rain or shine, with his cats following him as if he were the Pied Piper. Ray never a met a stranger and his baby blue eyes and ornery smile will be missed. He was loved by all who knew him.

Ray is survived by his sister; Virginia Horsley of West Portsmouth; a special sister-in-law; Linda M. Pendleton; special nephew and nieces, Bucky and Debbie Pendleton, Peggy Montavon and several other nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Pendleton and Gary Dale Pendleton; and a nephew, Darren Pendleton.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home with Pastor Randy Hurst officiating and interment in McKendree Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from noon until the funeral hour.
