Kenneth Wayne Davis

Kenneth Wayne Davis, 81, of South Shore, KY, passed away Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 1, 1937 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Franklin C. and Thelma Violet Pierce Davis.

In 1983, Ken moved his family to southern California where he completed his 30-year career with the Heinz Corporation as a plant maintenance engineer. In 1998, he retired to his native Ohio and he was an avid fan of both the Cincinnati Bengals and Cincinnati Reds. Kenny graduated from the former Otway High School in the class of 1956 and he attended Pleasant Green Baptist Church. He was a loving and hardworking man who enjoyed nothing more than cookouts with his family, the beach and being in the outdoors. Alzheimers took him, but it could not take the love that fully surrounded him daily.

Surviving is his wife, Rita Ann Jones Davis, whom he married in Kenwood on August 30, 1969; five sons, Kendall (Jan) Davis of Cincinnati, Anthony (Anne) Davis of Ft. Mill, SC, Matthew (Maria) Davis of Chicago, Randall Davis of Ft. Mill, Christopher (Jamie) Davis of Hurricane, WV; three daughters, Tamara Davis and Tarissa (Curtis) Parker of Portsmouth and Tarinda Davis of South Shore; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several loving nieces and nephews; cousins; sisters and brothers-in-law; and many souls who won’t soon forget the mark he left on the world.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ronald Davis; and three sisters, Mildred Wisecup, Thelma Brown and Frances Pauline Davis.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Clarence Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Berea Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
