Carl Gee
Age 83, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born February 3, 1935 to Morton and Nolene (Myers) Gee in Portsmouth. Carl was a 1953 graduate of Portsmouth East High School before serving in the U.S. Army. He attended Portsmouth Business College and earned a degree in Computer Science from Shawnee College. Carl founded the Portsmouth chapter of Big Brothers Big Sisters and ran the organization for many years. He loved photography, visiting Florida, and spending time on the beach. In his younger years Carl was a Body Builder. He retired as a computer programmer for McGovney Ready Mix in Portsmouth.
Carl is survived by four sons, Michael Scott Gee of Portsmouth, Daniel Joseph Gee of Wheelersburg, Adam Todd Gee of Columbus, and Randall Lee Gee of Wheelersburg; one daughter, Sandra Kay Phipps (Randy) of Portsmouth; mother of his children and best friend, Mary Frances Gee of Wheelersburg, thirteen grandchildren, Nathan, Kelsey, Kim, Jason, Emily, Keith, Becky, Chris, Brandon, Ethan, Alexis, Breanna, and Bradley; thirteen great-grandchildren; one brother, David Gee (Jane) of Lucasville; two sisters, Barbara Bentley (William) of Mt. Orab, Jo Ann Aeh of Portsmouth; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Mandy Jo Gee.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at WOLFE – NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.
