Axia Arena Woodruff

Axia Arena “Sally” Woodruff went to be with the Lord on September 14th, 2018 at 1:00p.m surrounded by family. Sally was joined in marriage to the late Joe Woodruff on November 19th, 1960. She was the daughter of the late Okey and Anna Mae Bennett- Richards. Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe, and her sister Geneva Ruth Richards. She is survived by 1 sister; Juanita Mae “DeeDee” Bailey of Piketon, Ohio; 3 brothers Ted and Diane Richards of Chillicothe, Ohio, Okey Richards of Beaver, Ohio, and Jimmy Richards of Savery, Wyoming; 2 daughters: Becky and Rick McDaniel of Waverly, Ohio, Kelly Woodruff-Hensley and T.J. Penwell of Chillicothe, Ohio; 1 son: “Little” Joe and Danielle Woodruff of Chillicothe, Ohio; 7 grandchildren: Jason and Kelly Horn, Justin and Sara Horn, Luke Penwell, Jacob Hensley, Sam and Whitney Hensley, Leigha Brown, and Emily Penwell;  7 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Kailey, Aiden, Claira, Braydan, Journey, Maddyn, and Kayson; her special neighbor Betty Roll; and numerous friends that touched Sally’s life.

Sally devoted her life to her family, especially her grandchildren. She spent most of her time helping her community through volunteer work. She was an amazing storyteller who would make you laugh until you cried. She made everyone, who was lucky enough to know her, feel welcomed and loved. She enjoyed singing and dancing up until the day she passed.  Sally was a lifetime member of the American Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary Post 142 where she spent most of her adult time. She enjoyed league bowling at Weiss Recreation for over 20 years and Dart league at the American Legion.

To know Sally was to love her. She will be missed by many for years to come.  The family would like to give a special thanks to Adena Hospice and Kilee Perdue, who had been a caretaker for Sally and the family for the past few months.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Botkin Hornback Funeral Home with Roger Hauck officiating.  Burial will follow in Evergreen Union Cemetery, Waverly.  Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Botkin-Hornback Funeral Home and/or Adena Hospice.
