Sophia Lorraine Wolford

Sophia Lorraine Wolford, 86, of Otway, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 10, 2018 at SOMC Hospice Center, Portsmouth, Ohio.  She was born on November 14, 1931 in Otway, daughter of the late John Elliott and Edna Mae Roush Jackson.  On February 5, 1955 she was united in marriage to Jerry Lee Wolford who preceded her in death on October 7, 1990.  She is survived by a son, David Lee Wolford of Otway; a daughter, Debbie Sieling and husband Mike of Portsmouth; grandchildren, Barney Phillips of Otway, Leann Johnson and husband Jason of Lucasville, Ohio, Nikki Royster and husband Derek of McDermott, Ohio, Derek Goodson and wife Miranda of McDermott; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Bella, Brinlee, Hunter, Cami, and Remington; a brother, John Jackson Jr and wife Clara of Belpre, Ohio; and two sisters, Roberta Doran of Pickerington, Ohio, and Brenda Williams of Columbus, Ohio. Also surviving is special friend Joan Romero, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband Sophia was preceded in death by three sisters, Betty Pennington, Linda Chase, and Reda Hill.

Sophia was a graduate of Otway High School and retired from Liston’s Gas Company and Arrick’s Gas Company with 40 years of service.  She was also a clerk for the village of Otway for over 40 years, a funeral home assistant at Botkin Funeral Home for 25 years, and a member of Otway Christian Union Church.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Otway Christian Union Church with Jack and Danny Powell officiating.  Burial will follow at Otway Cemetery.  Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Otway and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
