William Hurt, III

William E. Hurt, III Age 59, of Portsmouth, died peacefully at his home September 11, 2018.  He was born November 25, 1958 in Detroit, Michigan to William E. and Clara Bow (Bishop) Hurt, II.  William graduated from Glenwood High School in 1976 and worked for Norfolk/Southern Railroad as a bridge builder and in track maintenance.  He enjoyed playing the guitar, collecting antiques, pin-striping vehicles, and drawing.  He truly was an artist at heart.

He is survived by his wife Pam; three sons, Robert Castle, William E. Hurt IV, and Isaac Tackett, all of Portsmouth; two daughters, Misty Hurt of Portsmouth, Brooklyn Hurt of Franklin Furnace; four grandchildren, Caitlyn Hurt, Gavin Tackett, Robby Castle, Clara Bow Hurt; two sisters, Debra (Dave) Swords of West Portsmouth, Diana (Wayne) Faires of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 14, 2018 at D.W. SWICK – NELSON FUNERAL HOME in New Boston.  Friends may call from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Online condolences may be made to www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
