Georgia Jean Moffett

Georgia Jean Moffett, 92, of Portsmouth, died September 9, 2018 at Hillview (SOMC) Hospice.  She was born May 7, 1926 in Ashland, KY to the late Christopher Columbus Bradley and Minnie Jones Bradley.
Georgia graduated from Hitchem High School in Boyd County, KY.  At 17 she took the bus to Dayton, OH to work in the Airplane industry at Wright Patrerson AFB.  In the evenings she worked in the officer’s club.  Shortly before WWII ended, she was sworn into the U.S. Navy.  She married and moved to Portsmouth in 1953, starting the first Merle Norman Cosmetics studio on Gallia Street, worked in several restaurants, and managed the Holiday Inn Lounge.  Georgia and her husband, Bob, eventually moved to Florida where they lived for many years.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by five brothers, Leondur, Raymond, Duard, Clarence, and Christopher “Joe” Bradley and a sister, Barbara Bradley Stewart.  Surviving are the loves of her life, sons Clarence R. “Dick” Stewart and his wife Mary of Portsmouth, and Christopher R. Stewart and his wife Marilyn of Ft. Wayne, IN; a precious sister, Dorislene Marshall of Dayton; 7 beloved grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many special nieces and nephews.
Graveside services and a celebration of Georgia’s life will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Dayton, OH. Online condolences may be shared atwww.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
