Stanley Bernard Moore

Stanley Bernard Moore, 86, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, August 27, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born March 15, 1932 in Portsmouth, a son of the late Walter Edmond and Ada Francis Kelly Moore

Stanley was of the Methodist faith. He retired after 11 years of service as a corrections officer at SOCF and he had worked at the former Williams Manufacturing Company for 14 years.  A Korean War Army veteran, he earned the Korea Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal. Stanley was a life member of both the DAV Chapter #10 and the VFW Post #3714

His first wife, Joyce Louise Finger Moore, whom he married August 8, 1951, preceded him in death December 14, 2004.

Stanley is survived by his wife, Darlene Evelyn McLucas Moore, whom he married March 30, 2005 in Greenup, KY. Also surviving are stepchildren, Harcel R. (Diane) Harris of West Portsmouth, Carolyn Brown of Wheelersburg and Sherry (Rick) Swords of West Portsmouth; one granddaughter, Brooke Arthur; and several great-grandchildren.

Also preceding Stanley in death was his son, Dale Edward “Pugs” Moore; and two brothers, Owen E. Moore and Harry E. Moore.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Greg Carter officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park. The James Dickey Post American Legion Honor Detail will conduct Military Graveside Rites.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
