Marion E. “Ed” Tyler, Sr.
Age 82 of Wheelersburg, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth. He was born January 24, 1936 in Lincoln County, WV to Charles and Martha (Armstrong) Tyler. Marion honorably served his country in the Army for 22 years in a number of capacities. He worked in security, intelligence, was a supervisor of recruiting in Ashland, KY, and retired as a Master Sergeant. A former ROTC instructor at Paul Blazer High School in Ashland, he was the owner/operator of Tyler’s Amusement LLC in Sciotoville and a member of the American Legion. In his spare time, Marion was an avid Reds fan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Tyler; son, Marion “Eddie” Tyler, Jr. of Wheelersburg; daughter, Joyce Webb of Portsmouth; brothers, Charles W. Tyler of Wheelersburg and George Tyler of Tucson, AZ; sisters, Roxanne Greenawalt of Tucson, AZ, Eloise Tyler of Bisbee, AZ, and Susie (Rick) Bassett of Moundsville, WV; grandchildren, Tyler (Bobbie) Webb of Firebrick, KY and Stephanie (Brandon) Adkins of Wheelersburg; great-grandchild, Levi Lewis; stepmother, Leona Reed of St. David, AZ. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Arlie, and Kenneth Tyler.
Funeral services will be held at convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to SOMC Hospice. Online condolences may be shared at www.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
