Richard Douglas Black

Richard Douglas Black, 66, of Chillicothe, Ohio formerly of Ironton, Ohio went home with the Lord on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at VA Medical Center, Chillicothe.  He was born October 24, 1950 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Harold Douglas Black and Stella Beach Kidwell.  Richard is survived by a sister, Linda Black and Larry of Dayton; three brothers, Fred Black of Chillicothe, Dr. Don Black and wife Nancy of North Wood, Ohio and Jon Black and wife Clarissa of Piketon, Ohio; and eight nieces and nephews, Jonathan Black, Anna Brownawell, Adam Black, Katie Hefferman, Matthew Black, Shea Black, Kylie Black Temple and Kaci Black Havens.

Richard was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe and a former mail clerk at the VA Medical Center.  Everyone who came in contact with him was greeted with a smile and friendliness.  He was loved by his family and his friends at the VA.

Funeral services will be held 12:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly, Ohio with Rev. Lamar O’Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow in Mound Cemetery, Piketon.  Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Merritt Post 142, Waverly.  Family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
