William Donald Myer, 87, of Batavia, formerly of West Portsmouth, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
He was born April 20, 1931 in Lebanon, Virginia, a son of the late Henry Franklin and Pearl Elizabeth Honaker Myer.
Don was a retired Auditor for the State of Ohio with 32 years of service. Don was a 1949 McDermott High School graduate, a US Army veteran, a member of the McCullough Baptist Church, and attended Rehoboth Mission.
He greatly enjoyed reading and collecting books, gardening, traveling and helping others. He especially enjoyed working with the Boy Scouts where he was formerly a Scout Master.
He was also preceded in death by his wives, Shizuko Shimizu Myer and Jessie Myer; and one sister, Dorothy Suthers.
Don is survived by one daughter, Florence (Gary) Odenweller of Bonita Springs, FL; one son, David (Joyce) Myer of Mt. Orab; two grandchildren, Michael Odenweller and Kathleen (Michael) Licitis; two great-granddaughters, Thea and Nora Licitis; and three sisters, Norma Jean Myer of California, Pat Culp of Lucasville, and Mildred Dailey of Gallipolis.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Dave Lute officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens where military rites will be performed by the William A. Baker and James F. Irwin Posts of the American Legion. Friends may call from 11 a.m. till the funeral hour Saturday at the funeral home.
