Ronald Cole
Ronald Caven Cole, 84, of Portsmouth, passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born February 19, 1934 in South Webster, a son of the late Jennings and Margaret Hughes Cole.
Ron was a 1952 graduate of South Webster High School and he served in the Naval Reserves. Along with his wife, he owned and operated Cole Lincoln Mercury, Inc. for 30 years and the Pizza Pub for 26 years. Most of all, Ron enjoyed touring North America by motorcycle with his close friends. They traveled all over the country and Canada spending great times and covering thousands of miles together.
Surviving Ron is his wife of 61 years, Janet Whaley Cole, whom he married October 21, 1956 at Central Church of Christ in Portsmouth; his son, William “Bill” Howard (Becky Martin) Cole of Minford; two grandchildren, Jason Bryan (Meagan Yarnell) Cole and Jesica Michelle Cole; Becky’s Martin’s sons, who looked upon Ron as a grandfather, Joshua Martin, Michael (Madison Dever) Barnett and Levi Martin; great grandsons, Jacob Cole, Myles Cole, Dallas Meadows and Lucas Cole; special great-grandchildren, Brayden and Baylee Yarnell and Bayah Dever-Barnett; best friend, Carroll Hook of Dundee, FL; and his Goddaughter, Denise Hook of Portsmouth.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first grandchild, William Howard “Little Bill” Cole; and siblings, William Howard Cole, Joann Hess and Rosemary Williamson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the RALPH F. SCOTT FUNERAL HOME in Portsmouth with Rev. Larry Moore officiating and interment in South Webster Cemetery
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to services Friday.
