James Roger Picklesimer, 72, of Lucasville, passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.
He was born October 8, 1945 in Orient, Ohio, a son of the late Jerry and Ruth Orin Picklesimer.
Jim was a retired Cupola Furnace Supervisor for Dayton-Walther in Portsmouth and attended Back Run House of Prayer. Jim was a 1963 Valley High School graduate, an avid outdoorsman who was always in search of the big fish, and raised a garden that fed the neighborhood. He was a devoted volunteer and coach to the youth football programs at Valley and was a member of the 1962 undefeated Valley football team.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Crull Picklesimer, whom he married September 3, 1966 in Portsmouth; one son, Ryan Picklesimer of Sciotoville; two grandchildren whom he adored, Autumn and Jack Picklesimer; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Patty Montgomery and Wilma Noel.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon, Monday, June 4, 2018 at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Rev. Paul King officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday and an hour before the funeral Monday.
