Rachel Smith

Rachel Smith, 84, of Minford, passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth. Born May 26, 1933 in Scioto County, a daughter of the late Carl and Magdalena (Ross) Bayes, she had worked for Fazio Foods in Dayton, Ohio as head cashier for 17 years, and was a member of Harrison Free Will Baptist Church in Minford. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Carolyn Buttner of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Kathy and Bob Blackburn of Minford; three grandchildren, Angela (Mike) Hazen, Ryan (Paige) Tramell, Stacy (Herb) Mullens; four step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren, Alex Mullens, Claire Mullens, Mikey Hazen, Taylor Shultz, Katey Hazen, Parker Tramell, Alayna Tramell, Alyssa Hazen;12 step great grandchildren; two brothers, Bob (Ruth) Bayes of South Webster, Kenneth Ray (Paulette) Bayes of Minford; two sisters, Wanda (Don) Sudbrook of Concord, Ohio, Pat (Leslie) Skaggs, of Minford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Keith Smith, on December, 13, 2006, whom she married on October 30, 1948 in Greenup, Kentucky; a son-in-law, Bill Buttner; great granddaughter, Makenna Hazen; brother, Mike Bayes, and one sister, Jean Smith.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastor Mike Mounts officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
