Lester Lykins

Lester Lykins, 97, of Lucasville passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at his residence. Born June 16, 1920 in Magoffin County, KY a son of the late John D. Lykins, Sr. and Florence (Williams) Lykins. Lester was a long time member of Candy Run United Baptist Church. He was beloved by all who knew him and often referred to by those that interacted with him as such a sweet man. He loved and cared for his wife Anna until her last day and was the best daddy and papaw in the world. He was a jack of all trades and remembered by many for his homemade baskets and his gardens that he grew into his last years. Lester’s passing will be a great loss to his family and friends but we know he’s now in Heaven with his Anna and his Jesus. He is survived by two daughters, Patricia Ann (Cecil) Murray of Waverly, Sharon Marie (Joe) Stockham, of Minford; six grandchildren, Michael Murray, Aaron (Tracey) Murray, Lori (Kendall) Case, Jody (Carolyn) Stockham, Chad Stockham, Ryan (Angela) Stockham; thirteen great grandchildren, Blake Murray, Calley Reed, Elijah Murray, Isabella Grace Murray, Khloe Ann Case, Brittany Rickett, Layne Stockham, Brandon Stockham, Zachary Stockham, Corbin Stockham, Rylan Stockham, Caleb Stockham, Hannah Stockham; two great-great grandchildren, Leo Rickett, Ashton Rickett, and a special puppy, Buttons. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years in March 2010, Anna Francis (Porter) Lykins; four brothers, Herbert Lykins, John D. Lykins, Jr., James H. Lykins, Albert Lykins, and two sisters, Rosa Montgomery and Goldie Davis.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018 at Candy Run United Baptist Church in Lucasville with Elder Arvil Murray, Jr., Elder Dave Thompson, and Elder John Daniels officiating. Burial will be at Wheeler Cemetery in Lucasville. Friends may call at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
