Charles Marion Harkless

Charles Marion Harkless, age 68 of Wheelerburg, passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his home.  He was born October 9, 1949 in McArthur to Herman (Lafe) and Anna (Rhodes) Harkless.  Charles was a 1967 graduate of Portsmouth West High School and entered the Air Force immediately after graduation where he retired as a flight mechanic after over 20 years of service to his country.  After his retirement from the Air Force he worked for many years at Ridge Mini Mart in Wheelersburg making many friends.  Charles was of the Methodist faith.  He enjoyed sitting on his front porch, traveling, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson, Levi.
Charles is survived by his wife of 48 years, Nancy (Wicker) Harkless; two sons, Michael Harkless (Brenda) of Portsmouth and Robert J Harkless of Wheelersburg; a grandson, Levi Harkless; two step-grandchildren, Chelsea Hatch and Marshall Hatch; many brothers and sister-in-law; and a special cousin who was like a mother to him, Betty Mabe of Chillicothe.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Krysten Harkless and a sister, Brenda Harkless Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at D.W. SWICK-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in South Webster with Pastor Richard Thomas officiating.  Interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery.  Friends may call on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 5 – 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.  Online condolences may be left at www.DWSwickNelsonFuneralHome.com.
