James Calvin Shanks

James Calvin Shanks, 81 of Portsmouth, died on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.  He was born on March 27, 1937 in Washington Court House, the son of the late James Edward and Lillian Edna Bellar Shanks. He was also preceded in death by a brother, David L. Shanks. James had worked as a Horse Trainer for many years, it was his favorite past time and he attended Calvery Chapel Church in Portsmouth.

     James is survived one son, Jimmy Shanks; three daughters, Mary, Rosie and Janice Shanks; three sisters, Barbara (Jerry) Russell of West Portsmouth, Sarah (David) Craig of Sciotoville and Clara (Milton) Heaberlin of Grayson, KY; one brother Joseph (Konnie) Shanks of N. Lewisburg, OH and several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.

     A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at the Calvary Chapel Church in Portsmouth with Pastor Joe Bruch officiating.
