Mary “Lib” Elizabeth Mershon

Age 101, long time resident of Sciotoville, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018.  Lib was born on May 17, 1916 in Milton, WV to Pearl and Clydia (Davis) Blake.  She owned and operated Libby’s Beauty Shop in Sciotoville.  Lib was married to Sherman Wesley Mershon who passed away in 1981.  She was a member of Adams Community Church, enjoyed gardening, playing Freecell and Spider on the computer, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by sons, Jerry Mershon of Hawaii and Dr. James W. (Robin) Mershon of New Comerstown; daughters, Polly (Frank) Youngwerth of Hudson, Nancy Bateman of Minford, and Mary (Ted) Martin of Delaware; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; loving niece, Barbara King and her daughters, Rhonda and Beth King, all of Slocum.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Wesley Mershon; three brothers, Vernon, James, and Omer Blake; one sister, Corbia Yeley; granddaughter, Aiza Mershon; son-in-law, Dan Bateman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at WOLFE-NELSON FUNERAL HOME in Sciotoville with Pastor Kent Madden officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Franklin Furnace.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred in Lib’s name to Adams Community Church.  Online condolences may be shared atwww.WolfeNelsonFuneralHome.com.
