James Irvin Hilderbrand

James Irvin Hilderbrand, 82, of Beavercreek, Ohio passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at Best Care Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Wheelersburg, Ohio.  James was born January 4, 1936 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late William and Stella Martin Hilderbrand.  James graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1954. He was a US Army veteran serving during the Berlin Crisis.  James received his MBA degree from University of Dayton and was employed as a Contracting Officer at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.  He was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Beavercreek, Ohio and he belonged to the Knights of Columbus.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Dick Hilderbrand; and a sister, Ellen Thompson.  James is survived by his wife, Frances Eileen Delabar Hilderbrand whom he married October 15, 1966 in Portsmouth, Ohio.  Also surviving are two daughters, Ann Marie (Niels) Braam and Theresa Eileen (Steve) Rasmussen; a sister, Ann (Marvin) Davis; six grandchildren, Finn, Annika and Luke Braam and Jamie, Charlie and Stella Rasmussen; sisters-in-law, Mary Hilderbrand and Alberta Scherer; brother-in-law, Robert Thompson and many nieces and nephews.  The family extends special thanks to Best Care and their staff for the great care given to James.  In lieu of flowers, James has ask that memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Peter in Chains Catholic Church in Wheelersburg, with Fr. Stephen Smith officiating.  Military graveside rites and interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery to follow.  The family will receive friends at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday, April 2, 2018 with Recital of the Rosary at 8:00 pm.  Condolences to the family may be made at www.harrison-pyles .com.
