Helen E. Brown

Helen E. Brown, 88 of West Portsmouth, died Sunday April 1, 2018 at the River Bend House in Wheelersburg. She was born November 27, 1929 in Lawrence County to the late Grover and Helen Farmer Brown.

She was a 1948 graduate of Portsmouth High School and graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Huntington, West Virginia in 1953.  She worked as a Registered Nurse and Anesthesiologist with US Public Health Service. She worked in the Indian Reservations in the states of Oklahoma, South Dakota, and New Mexico, the VA Hospital in Cincinnati and the VA Hospital in Huntington, West Virginia where she retired. She always provided private duties whenever anyone she was acquainted with needed assistance.  She was also a member of Bigelow Church, loved traveling to meet with friends at least once a month.  She was greatly loved and will be missed by all those lives she touched.

Along with her parents Helen was preceded in death by 2 brothers Fred and Donald Brown and 2 sisters; Marcella Tatman and Kathleen Maier

 Helen is survived by a sister; Mildred Quillen of Florida along with 3 nephews; Jim (Lois) Shope of Wheelersburg, Bill (Margaret) Tatman of Lucasville, and Paul Quillen of Florida and 3 nieces; Cheryl, Marsha, and Karen all of Florida.
 Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Edgewood Abby at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg with Gary Chaffins officiating with interment to follow.
